A++++

Tue Dec 29, 2009, 7:49 PM
"Alright Keenan! You got an A+!"
"No stupid, you're thinking about when getting an A+ was good!"
"Congratulations Kel, A++++!"

From Keenan and Kel, the episode where it's the future.

Okay, so we all hate exams. And we all wish we could just totally fudge them and just say 'screw this'

I mean, take geometry. Half the time I'd actually measure the damn triangle.

And those damn half-page short answers, especially the one's that ask you to tell something about yourself

Here's my answer:
One time my dog got bit by another dog and my other dog saved her. My dog is the bravest person I know. What does that say about the human race? Nothing good...
Then there are things that are just absolute truths, for when you get fed up

Logic will override all situations

Sometimes you can't explain something in words, words just won't cut it. You need to show it

You can try to wow the teacher with your amazing art skillz

No, really, art skillz

And if you're going to fail, fail in style

It just might work

And remember, the answer is always C

Under Da Sea

Sat Dec 26, 2009, 8:54 AM
So will my family be starting tomorrow, they're going to Barbados and I am electing to stay here and sit house.

But that's not why I called you here today, I called you here to day to do an artist spotlight.

:spotlight-left:ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!!!:spotlight-right:

*tape squeals*

But before I do that, I'd like to set the scene. I was a 90's kid, so does anyone remember this game?:

oh that game was hours of fun for a six year old me.

For those of you who are confused, Echo the dolphin was an early video game where you played as a dolphin, Ecco, and swam through a magical underwater world.

So this is the premise for what I am to talk about in this:

:spotlight-left:ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!!!:spotlight-right:

Artist: :iconokura:

Okura's comic, The Rings of Time, is a fantastical tale featuring two Orcas and many other dezins of the deep. I urge you to join Okura and his sister Tiare as they journey through the seas of time to recover the lost rings and save the world!

This is a comic that will make you realize why you love Flipper, Free Willy, and Seaworld all over again.

Who let the Dogs Out? (Updated)

Sun Dec 20, 2009, 9:19 AM
UPDATE

Sooooo...I saw Avatar yesterday aaaannnnddd....

OMG IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER!!! :woohoo:

By far the BEST sci-fi movie ever. Best movie of the year!

The grapics were AMAZING! Like, the quality was that of the trailers for WoW. The world was amazing, so alive, so awesome! It was well worth the millions he spent on it. It's totally going to win best movie at the Oscars! I saw it in 3-d and that looked really awesome, but I really want to see it in IMAX so me and my dad definitely have to make plans to see it like that, that'll be tops.

---
Apparently Hayao Miyazaki did, in 1984 before finally rounding them up in 1985.

What am I talking about? Why, Sherlock Hound of course! Based on Sir Arthur Connan Doyle's masterpiece this series has quite a history:

Originaly directed by Miyazaki in his early days, issues with Doyle's estate forced the production into a hiatus. By the time production resumed, Miyazaki was already finishing Naussica. As a result, the rest of the series was directed by Kyosuke Mikuriya.

This version features anthropomorphic animals as the cast members Jules Verne style steampunk technology.

The cast list is very colorful:

Sherlock Hound: (Jap: Taichirô Hirokawa, Eng: Larry Moss): Cool and calm headed as always the only change, for obvious reasons, was the fact that they left out the opium addiction.

John Watson (Jap: Kousei Tomita, Eng: Lewis Arquette): Not much changed from the original novel.

Marie Hudson (Jap: Yôko Asagami, Eng: Pat Morris): A far cry from the dowdy, almost motherly figure the Marie Hudson in this adaption is in her 20's and a love interest of much of the male cast, Hound included. [A change that I, frankly, think his character could do without but whatever]

Professor Moriarty (Eng: Hamilton Camp): A character the occurs more than he did in the novels, Moriarty is Hound's main adversary and responsible for much of the steampunk technology seen in the show.

And, of course, there are others but that's the main cast list.

Now for a picture show!

Here's something I noticed while looking at these pictures; I thought why am I mildly attracted to a cartoon dog? This isn't normal even for me...oh wait...

See the resemblance? He's got Black Jack hair, and Black Jack's hot.

Anyway, back to the screenshots:

The title sceen:

An excellent profile shot:

I first thought this was a photo-background, which was used in a small version of Tezuka's Vampire: [link]
But it's actually a full matte background, and very beautifully done.

Miyazaki and I share a love for flying machines and all things steampunk.

Chase scenes as dramatic as they were in the novel and radio plays, and hopefully the upcoming feature movie

Always experimenting, Sherlock Holmes/Hound can be called the first forensic scientist.

Moriarty has a great character design, 'wolfish' seems to work well for the loner madman with a Cambridge degree.

...What?

Another great shot

And another nice/cute shot

What?!

In Hindsight

Thu Dec 3, 2009, 6:37 PM
Sending my therapist a copy of So I Married a Murderer and SIMM: The Series: Land of the Plague complete with lemony goodness was probably not such a good idea. What's even worse is that this little eureka (love that show) moment came to me when I was driving to class in the dark rain.

Me: Oh shit there's sex in there! (yes that is Edward Elric and Alfons Heidrich from FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa)

In other news I saw The Fantastic Mr. Fox last weekend and it was Fabulous. (yes that is Lloyd from Code Geass)The animation was stunning, especially considering you're working with models that have fur on them. By far the finest claymation to come out of the US since The Nightmare Before Christmas.

And in more news we are fostering two four week old kittens. And I'm getting paid to do it. Which is nice since I am poorer than a church mouse who aint got no cheese.

It's not that I can't hold on to my money like my sister, it's that life is short and I'm all about instant gain. I spend my money because that's what it's for.

Anywho, that's about it I do believe. Nothing but writing will be posted until break. I hope to get a chapter of Sapphire's Redemption (see, I'm not just blowing smoke) Or a chapter of either The Clockwork Exorcist or an Inheritance Series story I'm working on called: The Marvelous Adventures of Magpie: The Story of Kelly Hel-kona.

I would have some art of that up but I'm too busy writing a paper on death in the ancient Mayan culture with specific detail to burials and posthumous treatment of the body.

And that's a wrap.

UPDATE

Did anyone see the huge plug of Avatar in the new Bones episode? That's cause the guy who played the intern his episode has a good sized role in it. And it's got me so pumped! It's gonna be soooo awesome! I haven't been this excited since 9 was announced.

And Sherlock Holmes, I cannot wait for that to come out.

Coincidentally, Miyazaki did a little Sherlock Holmes spoof in the late 80's.

Called Sherlock Hound. Cute, I think it'd be much better than Disney trying to do the Great Mouse Detective. *shudder* (Don't ask why I shudder if you have something to do today.)

Is that Moriarty in the background? Great character designs!

Features the cases from the actual stories too. Sa-weet!
