Introducing: Gamma and Vorhees, a study in 3 Drabbles
1. He wasn't an aberration but he was certainly abnormal.
To so many Gamma was an aberration, something to be feared and hated. But to Vorhees Sylaris, Doctor to the Royal Airforce, he was the sweetest man he had ever known. A man forsaken by the Celestial Dragons who had somehow managed to heal, somehow managed to find light in the darkest situtations. Still, being able to turn on electronics with a flick of his finger was unnerving, as was making the bed static when he was trying to wake his lover.
2. "Why is it that a snorer can't hear himself snore?"
Vorhees clamped the pillow over his head, wishing Gamma could hear the ungodly noises he made at night. If it wasn't moaning in one of his frequent sexual fantasies (he has frontal lobe damage, he can't control what his body wants, he reminded himself) he was snoring like a Brax, or a Drake. One of these days, Vorhees vowed, he would record Gamma's snoring and bring it out when he felt like spiting him.
3. The next morning
The next morning, after they had made love for the first time, Vorhees found himself cold and aching; probably because they had stayed the night in his lab. Gamma hadn't yet been allowed off the military's base and had crept up on the doctor just as he was about to leave. He had been humming with energy, having recently released a great deal of it and still high off the adrenaline rush. It wasn't exactly how Vorhees had planned his first sexual encounter with the not-quite-man.
More recently, their mornings after involved one of them waking up quietly, usually Vorhees because Gamma could sleep like the dead for someone so attuned with electricity, and making the other breakfast. Since it was usually Vorhees, he would be standing over the stove when a pair of long, thin arms wrapped themselves around him and a warm presence draped itself over his back. (Gamma slept in the nude all times except for when Vorhees' nephew stayed over) A soft kiss would be shared, and then Gamma would point at the television and zap it on, waiting for the better cook of the two to finish up.

Gamma and Vorhees are two of my favorite characters from Ghost of Atlantis. I know as an author I'm not supposed to have favorites amongst my children but I do love writing for them. I love creating a realistic gay couple, modeling them slightly on the friends of my parents who are a gay couple. It's not at all how people write it. Sure, Gamma does have quite the sex drive but mostly I want to show them in domestic life. When Gamma's not shooting lightning from his hands, he's snuggled on the couch with Vorhees.
